The DfT expects passenger demand on the new South Eastern rail franchise to grow by about 1% a year.
Passenger forecasts are contained in the prospectus for franchise bidders published this week. The new franchise will commence in December 2018 and run for between seven and ten years.
Patronage is projected to rise from 181 million in 2015/16 to 199-206 million in 2028/29. Broken down by service type, the figures are:
