The A78 Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston (the 'three towns') bypass opened on 21 December. A 5km dual carriageway road starts from an enlarged roundabout at the A78/A738 junction and runs north of Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston, to a new roundabout on the B780 at Chapelhill. From there a 1.4km single carriageway road runs to a new roundabout on the A78 at Montfode.
