A major change to traffic flow in the City of London came into effect this week with only buses and cycles being allowed to pass through Bank Junction outside Bank Tube station between 7am and 7pm Monday to Fridays. The restriction could be the precursor to a complete re-design of the junction by 2021 that would see the removal of all motorised traffic.

Until this week the six-arm junction handled about 1,600 motor vehicles every hour of the day on weekdays. In the AM peak hour (08.00-09.00)...
