A routemap to the introduction of truck platoons on Europe’s roads has been published by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
ACEA says truck platoons will reduce fuel consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, improve safety, and make better use of road space. Their introduction, however, requires further developments in platoon technology and standards, upgraded road infrastructure, a supportive regulatory framework, real-life trials, and political support.
