Macquarie has exited the M6 Toll road in the West Midlands after the road’s debt was purchased by a new team of lenders led by Australian pension fund manager IFM Investors.
The new lenders have exercised a ‘golden share call option’ in Peregrine Motorways Ltd, the parent company of Midland Expressway Ltd (MEL) – the road’s operating company – and Midlands Motorway Group (which finances MEL).
