Transport for London is to install two new safety devices on Tramlink in Croydon in an attempt to prevent a repeat of the fatal derailment in 2016 when a tram travelled too fast round a curve and overturned.
The tramway currently operates using signals that advise the driver to proceed or stop. The trams also feature a device that is similar to a ‘dead man’s handle’ on a train.
