The Government is launching a £20m research programme into enabling electric vehicles to return electricity to the grid. The funding from the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) will support three types of project: feasibility studies; industrial research or experimental development (for example, to develop vehicle-to-grid charging equipment demonstrator trials); and projects that trial vehicle-to-grid technology in different locations across the country. Proposals will be invited in the next few weeks. Winners should be announced in December, with projects commencing in 2018.
