A code of practice for dockless bike operators has been released by Transport for London (TfL) in partnership with the capital’s boroughs. It outlines the requirements and recommendations that operators are expected to follow as part of delivering safe and effective schemes in the capital.
A key aim of the code is to ensure well-designed, dockless bike share schemes that complement London’s public transport network and support the Mayor’s Transport Strategy.
The code sets out various themes and parameters for dockless schemes including their aim and scope, definitions, general requirements, engagement, safety and maintenance, operations, customer experience and education, data requirements, environment, accessibility and future considerations.
The introduction of dockless bike sharing will be closely monitored as appropriate governance and regulatory controls are explored to make sure it works for everyone in the capital, says TfL.
