A trial in Dundee and North Fife will allow young people aged 16-25 to find, book and pay for the fastest and cheapest transport using a web app called NaviGoGo. The app was created by a consortium led by the ESP Group, which also includes Mudlark, the National Entitlement Card (NEC), Route Monkey, SYSTRA and Young Scot travel card.
The project received funding from Innovate UK to develop a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform to make it easier for young people to travel. The pilot service allows young people to directly book trains and taxis and provides information such as the fare and change required for buses and availability of car clubs, through the NaviGoGo app. Healthy options such as cycling and walking are also included in journey planning.
NaviGoGo also boasts innovative features such as the taxi fare splitting calculator, destination and transport reviews. During the six-month trial, £20 per month will go into each trial participant’s NaviGoGo account, with the option to top-up with their own money as well.
