Brighton & Hove Buses has made its bus guide easier to read for customers with sight impairments. The bus company has produced large print A3-sized of Bus Times, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
The bus company commissioned Able and Willing, 70% of whose workforce has some kind of disability, to print the larger scale version.
Graham Outlon, head of Brighton & Hove Guide Dogs, said: “Some of our members told Brighton & Hove Buses that Bus Times is a really useful publication, but the font size can be difficult to read and therefore a larger print version would help.
“The bus company regularly consults us and other groups and as a result they’ve produced this large print Bus Times which will help so many of our partially-sighted members and make the travelling experience easier and more convenient.
Victoria Garcia, the bus company’s accessibility and communities officer, said: “This is just another very small, simple step on the way to ensuring our buses are as accessible as possible to everyone.”
The large-print publication has been distributed to the council, as well as all organisations whose service users might have a visual impairment.
