A mini-roundabout is being installed in Bognor Regis town centre to improve safety for road users, and cyclists in particular.
The mini-roundabout replaces a “give way” arrangement at the junction of Argyle Road and West Street in the West Sussex town. Two illuminated signs will be installed to highlight the new mini roundabout.
West Sussex County Council says that road safety experts have advised that this will encourage drivers to slow down at the junction.
Evening and nighttime work has been planned to minimise disruption to public transport as the roads are on a bus route from the town centre to the seafront. This will entail the closure of Argyle Road, from the junction with West Street to Bassett Road, which has been scheduled for November 13 to 17 to allow for the weather-dependent road painting. Emergency vehicle, residential and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
