The City of Edinburgh Council plans to impose age restrictions on the city’s taxis and private hire vehicle fleets. From 1 December 2018 all taxi and private hire applications and renewals would have to be at least Euro 5 standard (applicable from January 2012). From 1 December 2020 they would have to be Euro 6 (applicable from September 2015). A working group including representatives of trade bodies is examining the practicality of the proposals.
