Rail patronage on London and South East services was 1.3% lower in the second quarter of 2017/18 compared with the same period of 2016/17, according to the Office of Rail and Road. This is the fifth successive quarter of decline.
GB-wide rail passenger journeys in the second quarter fell 0.4% to 424 million. Long distance passenger numbers grew 1.1% and patronage on regional operators (i.e. outside London and the South East) rose 2.0%.
