Authorities in England and Wales are discussing the possibility of broadening the scope of the proposed Chester Western Relief Road (CWRR) to increase its benefits. A jointly funded study will identify options for a new cross-border alignment.
A proposed CWRR route, entirely in England, was identified in the 1990s and included in Cheshire County Council’s transport strategy for Chester. The alignment has since been protected in local plans.
