Ignore road hauliers’ plea for bus lane access

Allowing HGVs to use bus lanes is not the answer to improving either freight delivery efficiency, or reducing air pollution and it will gravely affect road safety for cyclists and pedestrians as well as worsening bus reliability. (‘Freight bodies urge Grayling to intervene in CAZ proposals’ LTT27 Apr). Once a precedent is set to allow HGVs into bus lanes as certain times, the road freight industry will then push for their use all the time.
