Transport for the West Midlands (TfWM) has alerted the market to a new framework contract for strategic and tactical transport modelling services. 

The framework will commence on 1 October and run to 30 September 2022, covering two supplier categories: the development and operation of strategic and tactical transport models; and the scoping and specification of strategic and tactical transport models. 

In addition to TfWM, the framework could be used by the seven constituent metropolitan district council members of the West Midlands Combined Authority. Shire authorities in the wider West Midlands region will be able to optionally become party to the framework. 

TfWM currently uses PRISM (Policy Responsive Integrated Strategy Model), developed by consultants Mott MacDonald and RAND Europe. PRISM Version 5.0 was launched last year. 

Says TfWM: “The West Midlands Combined Authority constituent authorities and TfWM want to expand the volume of PRISM modelling undertaken, extend the coverage of the model to reflect land-use planning requirements, and enhance the functionality of the model to address current and anticipated policy and strategy issues.”

An invitation to tender should be published on 1 July 2018, with tenders required by 1 August. Appointments to the framework are expected to be made on 1 September.
