London mayor Sadiq Khan has written to transport secretary Chris Grayling calling for London services run by troubled franchise operator Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern to be passed to Transport for London’s control in 2020, the earliest opportunity if the Government terminates the franchise early. Khan wants control of Great Northern services from Moorgate to Enfield, Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City, and services out of London Victoria and London Bridge to places such as Croydon and Sutton. Grayling said in May that he was considering devolving services between Moorgate, Welwyn Garden City and Hertford North to TfL (LTT 25 May).
