The Government should establish a new body to study future disruptive transport technologies, says the National Infrastructure Commission.
The ‘Centre for Advanced Transport Technology’ would subsume the current functions of the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and have a wider remit and more influential role in the DfT’s long-term transport planning processes.
“Its core focus should be on ensuring that technological innovation is fully embedded in the planning processes for the third Road Investment Strategy and the next rail investment cycle, Control Period 7,” says the NIC’s National Infrastructure Assessment.
