Capital’s bus and rail trips continue to fall

Passenger numbers on almost all forms of public transport in London are down in the first two months of 2018/19 compared with the same period last year, according to Transport for London.

The data for 1 April to 26 May shows 614 million journeys, compared with 625 million in the period 1 April to 27 May 2017.

Data for individual modes shows (with the previous year’s figures in brackets): 

• Bus use down 2.5 per cent at circa 346 million (cf. 354 million)
