After 32 years at the City of London Corporation, Iain Simmons (pictured) is retiring as assistant director of local transportation in the Department of the Built Environment. Simmons’ commitment to changing and improving the City and London was recognised at this year’s Healthy Streets Awards (see page 27). He has formed his own company, Iain Simmons Consulting, which will focus on helping and training others to deliver major civic projects. City of London transportation and public realm director Steve Presland is also retiring after ten years at the council. He is replaced by Zahur Khan, who joins from Nottingham City Council, where he was director of traffic and transport. Prior to that he worked for the London Borough of Islington for 14 years.
