MHCLG sticks to homes target, despite lower ONS projections

The Government is sticking with its aspiration for 300,000 new housing units to be built in England each year, despite the Office for National Statistics’ new projections suggesting that significantly fewer homes are needed. 

More than 217,000 new homes were delivered in England in 2017 and the Government set a target in last year’s Budget to increase this to an average of 300,000 a year by the mid-2020s.
