A woman who left her BMW with an airport meet & greet parking firm returned to find it had been driven nearly 500 miles and issued with a parking fine while she was away.
The car owner Zoe Parr and her husband left Manchester Airport on a two-week honeymoon break to Jamaica on 7 July. They paid for a meet-and-greet service with Manchester Airport Parking Services Ltd, and she made a note there was 50,000 miles on the odometer.
On her return, Parr discovered that there was an extra 469 miles on the clock. She also received a parking fine from Parking Eye with a photograph showing the vehicle in an Asda supermarket car park, in Oldham, where the fine was issued. Parr called Asda and explained the situation; the supermarket chain dropped the charge.
She also contacted Greater Manchester Police but was told they could not prosecute because they didn’t know who the driver was at the time.
She is yet to receive an explanation from Manchester Airport Parking Services – despite trying to contact them seven times. Parking Review has been unable to make contact with Manchester Airport Car Parking Services Ltd for a statement concerning the allegations, as the company does not supply a web address or a contact telephone number.
