Heathrow Airport Ltd (HAL) is consulting on a plan to introduce an extra 25,000 flights a year in advance of a third runway opening.
The proposal would require the lifting of the 480,000 annual cap on flights, which was imposed as a condition for the construction of Terminal 5. Over the last few years the total number of flights has been around 476,000 a year.
