Wales ‘needs multiple transport authorities’

Wales will need at least three Joint Transport Authorities (JTAs) rather than the proposed one, traffic commissioner Nick Jones told an Assembly committee last week.

The Welsh Government effectively abolished Wales’ four regional transport consortia in 2014 but in its recent White Paper on improving public transport the Government acknowledged that bus services had suffered from reduced skills and funding in the 22 unitary authorities (LTT 14 Dec 18).
