The extraordinary story of the DfT’s procurement of ferry capacity for a no-deal Brexit scenario is revealed in a report by the National Audit Office this week.
The NAO says the Government concluded last October that, in a worst-case no-deal scenario, the flow of goods could be reduced by up to 87 per cent across the short Channel crossings (Dover-Calais/Dunkirk and the Channel Tunnel), with disruption lasting for up to six months.
