I am delighted to see that Mike Maher has responded (Letters LTT 1 Feb) to my letter (LTT 14 Dec 18) critiquing the DfT 20mph report that he co-authored. I fully concur with his view that we should adopt an evidence-based approach to policy-making. But that does not mean that we should not be critical of the evidence and point out its possible flaws. All data is good, but we must also assess its relevance.
I still maintain that the casualty levels in the chosen case study areas were too small...
