Free wifi will be available at all mainline stations in Great Britain by spring 2021, Network Rail has announced. The roll-out of free WiFi across Network Rail’s 20 stations will begin at London Victoria next year.
Passengers cited free WiFi as one of the key improvements that would enhance their station experience, along with free toilets and more seating, according to Network Rail.
The service, to be delivered by telent technology, will be child-friendly and usable on more than one passenger device. A Network Rail spokesman said: “There will be logistical challenges in offering free WiFi that can provide the coverage that will support the sheer capacity of passenger numbers, even at peak times, with a quality service. Other challenges include obtaining consent and installing assets in Listed Buildings.”
