Birmingham City Council is proceeding with a controversial plan to demolish a radial road flyover in the north of the city that will facilitate a new housing development and should improve conditions for pedstrians and cyclists.  

Councillors last week approved the £30m scheme at Perry Barr that will see the A34 flyover removed and the A34/A453/A4040 junction reconfigured.
