The popularity of e-bikes is being thwarted in Northern Ireland by antiquated legislation that makes them less financially attractive to residents than elsewhere in the UK.
Greg Wilson, founder of insurance comparison site CompareNI.com, said legislation in Northern Ireland still classifies e-bikes as mopeds, resulting in owners facing costs of tax, insurance, a licence and MOT.
