Plans to increase the limit on the number of passengers using London Luton Airport are being opposed by two Hertfordshire councils. The airport, which is in Bedfordshire, wants to increase the capacity of passengers to 32 million a year by 2040, up from 18 million. The number of flights arriving and leaving Luton could increase from 34 an hour to 49 by 2040 if the airport expansion is agreed.
