Rail stuck in sidings when it comes to mobile connectivity, says NIC

One of rail’s selling points – the ability to work or be entertained using mobile devices – is being undermined by inadequate telecommunications infrastructure, says the National Infrastructure Commission

Rail passengers’ expectations of fast data speeds for mobile services such as video streaming are being frustrated by the failure of Government and industry to deliver the necessary upgrades to trackside mobile infrastructure, says the National Infrastructure Commission. 

The NIC has just revisited the topic of mobile connectivity on road and rail,  having first looked at in its Connected Future report, published in December 2016 (LTT 17 Mar 17).
