Elderly & scholars dominate bus route

Almost every passenger on a bus route in Rutland is either a concessionary passholder or a school pupil using a scholar’s pass, according to Rutland County Council. 

The Rutland Flyer 2 operates between Melton Mowbray and Oakham, with six services in one direction and seven in the other, plus one part-route, Mondays to Saturdays. 

Rutland says about 29,900 of the 39,100 journeys a year are made by concessionary passholders without charge.
