Suffolk county Council has dropped a plan for a northern bypass of Ipswich, attributing the decision to a lack of district council support for the project.
The road would have connected the A14 northwest of Ipswich with the A12 to the northeast. The idea was revived following the scrapping of the Upper Orwell crossings project in Ipswich last winter (LTT 15 Feb 19). A consultation on route options was held last year (LTT 02 Aug 19).
