Network Rail has awarded the contract to build a station at Soham in Cambridgeshire to J Murphy and Sons Ltd. The single platform station will cost £18.6m, funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, which is led by mayor James Palmer. Main construction works will commence next year, with completion is expected by the end of the year. The project includes a car park for 50 vehicles and a footbridge across the line. The station will be served by Ipswich to Peterborough services. Murphy & Sons Limited is Network Rail's framework delivery partner for the Anglia route. The original Soham station closed in 1965.
