Government funding for zero emission buses in England must not undermine the ability of local transport authorities to introduce bus franchising, the Urban Transport Group (UTG) has said.  

In February the Prime Minister announced an extra £5bn over five years for buses and cycling (LTT 21 Feb). Boris Johnson said a big chunk of the bus funding would help deliver 4,000 zero emission buses in England and Wales.
