‘School streets’ cut car and bus use

‘School street’ traffic restrictions around primary schools in the London Borough of Croydon have cut car and public transport use, the council reports. Summarising results from the first 17 schools to have the restrictions, Stuart King, Croydon’s lead councillor for environment and transport, said: “Schools survey data indicate that the schemes have contributed to between a 15 per cent and 25 per cent reduction in car use and between a 23 per cent and 65 per cent uptake...
