Scotland’s first hydrogen-powered train could be launched in November to coincide with the climate summit in Glasgow. A redundant ScotRail Class 314 electric multiple unit, formerly used in the Glasgow area, is being converted at the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway. Scottish Enterprise, Transport Scotland and the Hydrogen Accelerator based at the University of St Andrews have appointed a consortium led by Arcola Energy to deliver the train.
