Stonehenge tunnel: bad for the landscape, and bad for drivers

Derek Parody, Highways England’s project manager for the A303 Stonehenge project, says that “improving congestion, reducing unexpected delays and ensuring safer, more reliable journeys are among our key objectives for the project” (Letters LTT 19 Feb).

The journey may be slow at times but it is no worse than regular congestion in many locations in the South West, as Google’s congestion maps show. 

It is questionable to suggest that this widened road will deliver...
