TfL aborts Oystercard e-money talks

Plans to allow Oystercards to be used for small purchases such as newspapers and groceries received a setback this week when TfL announced it has abandoned talks with seven companies to provide an 'e-money' system.

E-money would allow TfL's ticketing smartcard to be used at newsagents, parking machines and supermarkets to make small purchases instead of using cash.
