The Greater Manchester Combined Authority has proposed scrapping the Newcastle to Manchester Airport service in its response to the DfT consultation on ways to ease capacity pressures on Greater Manchester’s rail network (LTT 22 Jan & 19 Mar).
The GMCA says none of the DfT’s three options is ideal but that option C, merged with the Liverpool to Manchester Airport connectivity of option B, would be the “least worst option”.
