Boroughs are unfit to plan London’s transport

It’s laughable (though not funny) that the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea makes important decisions such as removing the cycle lanes on Kensington High Street based solely on anecdotal ‘evidence’ that removing the lanes may somehow have helped the elderly (“Axing bike lane ‘may have helped elderly’” LTT 02 Apr). It’s also quite wrong.

There is no way that crossing a cycle lane can be harder than crossing two lanes of faster moving...
