Cracks found on West Midlands trams

Several trams running on the West Midlands Metro have undergone urgent repairs after cracks were found in the underframe structure, causing the whole network to be shutdown in early June.

In a statement tram manufacturer CAF said trams were being inspected prior to repair of minor cracks, but that they had identified that some cracks may be outside suggested tolerances and as a result the decision was taken to suspend the fleet from service to allow for thorough inspection of all trams.
