Belfast City Council plans to expand its bike hire scheme, despite continuing problems with vandalism of existing bikes. Belfast Bikes was launched in 2015 with 30 docking stations and 300 bikes. It now has 400 bikes and 48 docking stations. The bikes were recently replaced, using Department for Infrastructure funding. Rentals decreased from 180,000 in 2018/19 to 137,000 in 2019/20 and just 65,000 in 2020/21. However, March 2021 was a record month for Belfast Bikes, with 28,903 rentals. A...
