Passengers aged 19 to 21 are being offered a 30% discount off any journeys on the Tyne and Wear Metro.
Nexus, the public body that owns and manages Metro, said the Pop card means the service now offers free travel or smart card discounts for every age group up to 21.
This follows the launch earlier this summer of free travel for children aged 11 and under with a fare-paying adult, alongside cheaper fares for older children and teenagers (LTT 28 July).
