The Great British Railways transition team now has a workforce of about 180, including some people from non-rail retail, the House of Commons transport committee was informed last week, though the organisation as yet has no legal status.

“Within Network Rail, which is where the transition team is currently hosted, it’s about 180, which is 100 secondees and then about 80 consultants,” said Network Rail chief executive Andrew Haines, who is leading the transition...
