England’s largest local authorities have warned they may have to cancel or delay repairs to local roads and infrastructure because rising inflation has increased costs.
New figures, based on research by the County Councils Network (CCN) and the Society of County Treasurers, suggest that the estimated costs of inflation in 2022/23 for 40 of England’s largest councils is up 92% in three months since they set their budgets in March.
