Online portal may list Welsh 20mph exceptions

The 20mph default limit will apply to all restricted roads in Wales

The Welsh Government is considering creating an online facility for councils to publish lists of the roads they propose to exempt from the 20mph default urban speed limit, which is due to apply across Wales from September 2023.

The news comes as the backlash against the 20mph limit gathers pace. An online petition has gathered tens of thousands of signatures and one local authority is taking steps to reverse the 20mph limit on some roads within one of the eight pilot areas.
