Government urged to act after bus stats reveal ‘decade of decline’

The Government must step in and support local buses after the latest statistics reveal a “decade of decline”, says the Campaign for Better Transport (CBT).

The DfT’s annual bus statistics for the year ending March 2022, reveal a picture of long-term decline, with a 19% drop in bus vehicle miles and a 39% drop in passenger journeys in Great Britain in the last decade (2011/12 to 2021/22) (see above).
