Local authority control of bus services on Merseyside has moved closer as members of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) were asked last week to approve key elements of the process, including a formal proposed franchising scheme. A final decision is expected before the end of this year.
LCRCA says that if the agenda progresses, the first franchised routes in the region – in St Helens – could be in operation from September 2026.
