Local transport authorities will have to produce local electric vehicle (EV) charging strategies and ensure provision of chargepoints.

This commitment appears in the Department for Transport’s response to its consultation on the future of transport regulation.

When parliamentary time allows, the DfT intends to take powers to issue directions to authorities to produce local charging strategies if they have not done so as part of local transport plans.
